Professor Joh Backs Sen. Warren's Bill Banning Sale of Location, Health Data
Professor Elizabeth Joh expressed support for a bill introduced in June by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren that would ban data brokers from selling Americans’ location and health data. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders was a co-sponsor on the bill.
A press release about the bill included a quote from Joh: “This is an important bill that will protect digital privacy, and at an especially sensitive time when location data may be used to track those seeking reproductive health services after the Supreme Court decides the Dobbs case.”
Professor Joh's scholarship focuses on criminal procedure and policing, with a special emphasis on DNA evidence, undercover policing, and new surveillance technologies. She is the recipient of King Hall’s 2017 Distinguished Teaching Award.
