Professor Joe takes part in panel discussion about officer-involved shootings

Professor Irene Joe was part of “Engage Sacramento: A Panel for Effective Community Participation” at McGeorge School of Law. Professor Joe joined other legal professionals to discuss how the law works in relation to officer-involved shootings, and how the community can make changes.  

The Wiley W. Manuel Bar Association and the McGeorge Black Law Student Association presented the panel, convened in response to the shooting death of Stephon Clark, an unarmed black man killed by Sacramento police officers in March.

The event’s lead organizer was Adrian Carpenter, head of the Wiley E. Manuel Bar Association and Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary for the Office of Gov. Jerry Brown.

Professor Joe teaches Criminal Law, Professional Responsibility, Voir Dire, and Criminal Trials: Theory and Practice at King Hall. She has significant experience in criminal litigation proceedings with prior experience representing indigent defendants in capital post-conviction litigation and children sentenced to life in prison without the opportunity for parole.
