Professor Imwinkelried Teaches Scientific Evidence in Beijing

Professor Edward Imwinkelried traveled to Beijing from March 21 to April 3 to teach a course in Scientific Evidence at the Chinese University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) and to speak at the Renmin University of China. 

The People's Republic of China is currently considering the adoption of a set of Uniform Provisions on Evidence for the People's Court.  Article 28 of the draft Uniform Provisions would adopt the hearsay exclusionary rule.  In his remarks at Renmin, Professor Imwinkelried discussed the concept of nonhearsay-testimony that concerns out-of-court statements but that falls outside the definition of hearsay.  Professor Imwinkelried taught the Scientific Evidence course to the faculty and graduate students at CUPL's Forensic Evidence Institute. At the conclusion of his course at CUPL, Professor Imwinkelried was appointed to the school's board of foreign advisors. 

Professor Imwinkelried is a world-renowned evidence expert and has published extensively in the field.
