Professor Imwinkelried Speaks at National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Seminar

On May 17, Professor Edward Imwinkelried spoke at a National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers seminar on "Making Sense of Science: Forensic Science and the Law" held in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

Professor Imwinkelried discussed recent developments in the law governing the admissibility of expert testimony: the California Supreme Court's adoption of a new standard in its 2012 decision in Sargon v. University of Southern California, the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court's 2012 decision in Williams v. Illinois on the types of facts experts may rely on as a basis for their decisions, and the recent Washington state case law addressing the question of whether scientific measurements must be accompanied by a statement of the confidence interval for the measurement.
