Professor Imwinkelried Comments on Evidence in Cantu Murder for CBS 13

Professor Edward Imwinkelried contributed his expertise in forensic evidence to a news story on the high-profile murder of eight-year-old Sandra Cantu broadcast on CBS 13 of Sacramento on April 24.  Professor Imwinkelried noted that despite the fact that Cantu's body was found in suitcase in an irrigation reservoir several days after her death, the DNA evidence would probably be in good condition.

"Nuclear DNA is very, very durable, so a lot of this evidence is easily going to endure the environmental assaults it received in a short period of time of being placed in a piece of luggage in an area that was wet," said Professor Imwinkelried.

Professor Imwinkelried is a world-renowned evidence expert and has published extensively in the field.
