Professor Ikemoto Speaks at UC Law S.F. Symposium
On Feb. 14, Professor Lisa Ikemoto spoke on the panel “Reproductive Justice and Race & Economic Justice” at the Reproductive Justice and Health Symposium at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco.
The panel focused on histories of forced sterilization in prisons and Los Angeles County hospitals and the state’s role in the disproportionate production of impairment in racially marginalized communities due to environmental factors.
The panel also featured Berkeley Law Professor and UC Davis Law 2024 commencement speaker Khiara M. Bridges and UC Law S.F. Professor Radhika Rao.
Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law Lisa Ikemoto has written extensively on genetic and reproductive technology, the regulation of fertility and pregnancy, and race and gender disparities in health care. Her current work examines emerging issues in regenerative medicine, including stem cell research, and the human tissues market.
