Professor Ikemoto speaks at National Women's Studies Association conference

Professor Lisa Ikemoto spoke at the National Women’s Studies Association annual conference on Nov. 17 in San Francisco. She presented a paper, “The Circle of Life,” on an interdisciplinary panel, “Critical Perspectives on Reproductive Politics, Health, and Technology.” Ikemoto’s paper traces transfers of technology and accompanying narratives between the biotechnology industry and fertility clinics.

Lisa Ikemoto, Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law, has written extensively on genetic and reproductive technology, the regulation of fertility and pregnancy, and race and gender disparities in health care. Her current work examines emerging issues in regenerative medicine, including stem cell research, and the human tissues market.
