Professor Ikemoto Honored with Vital Bridges Award

The Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice (ACRJ) honored Professor of Law Lisa Ikemoto '87 on October 17, 2006, with a Vital Bridges Award. The award honors activists and scholars who have shown a brave commitment to ending reproductive oppression and whose work continues to build the power of marginalized communities while inspiring the reproductive justice movement.

Ikemoto's scholarship and community work focus on race and gender issues in bioethics and health care. She has written extensively on genetic and assisted reproductive technology use, reproductive justice, and health care disparities issues.

Founded in 1989, ACRJ has been at the forefront of building a Reproductive Justice Movement that places the reproductive health and rights of Asian women and girls within a social justice framework. ACRJ promotes and protects reproductive justice through organizing, building leadership capacity, developing alliances, and education to achieve community and systemic change.
