Professor Ikemoto gives Osher Lecture at UC San Diego
Professor Lisa Ikemoto delivered the Feb. 8 Osher Lecture at the University of California, San Diego.
Her presentation, “Religion at the Bedside,” addressed the rapidly expanding, legally protected space for hospitals, employers, and other entities to refuse patient services based on religious or moral objections. She focused on how these practices and rules affect women, transgender patients, and patients facing end-of-life decisions.
Professor Ikemoto, Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law, has written extensively on genetic and reproductive technology, the regulation of fertility and pregnancy, and race and gender disparities in health care. Her current work examines emerging issues in regenerative medicine, including stem cell research, and the human tissues market.
