Professor Ikemoto discusses 'Embryo Economy' at Humanities Institute

Professor Lisa Ikemoto offered a presentation titled “The Embryo Economy: Genetic Modification in the Global Fertility Market” May 3 at the UC Davis Humanities Institute.

The presentation addressed assisted reproductive technology in the context of the global market, focusing on the role of reproductive travel in launching new technologies.

The talk was part of the Reproductive Justice Series sponsored by the Davis Humanities Institute Women and Gender in the World Research Cluster.

Lisa Ikemoto, Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law, has written extensively on genetic and reproductive technology, the regulation of fertility and pregnancy, and race and gender disparities in health care. Her current work examines emerging issues in regenerative medicine, including stem cell research, and the human tissues market.
