Professor Ikemoto co-writes San Francisco Chronicle op-ed opposing egg-donor bill

Professor Lisa Ikemoto and UCSF Assistant Professor Diane Tober wrote an op-ed for the San Francisco Chronicle laying out their opposition to a bill before the California Legislature that would pay women to donate eggs for research. Read the op-ed

Ikemoto also joined a coalition of scholars and organizations in sending letters to Gov. Gavin Newsom and Assemblywoman Autumn Burke, D-Marina Del Rey, author of the bill. Burke amended the bill in response to some concerns, but the coalition remained opposed.

Lisa Ikemoto, Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law, has written extensively on genetic and reproductive technology, the regulation of fertility and pregnancy, and race and gender disparities in health care. Her current work examines emerging issues in regenerative medicine, including stem cell research, and the human tissues market.
