Professor Horton Named as 2015 Distinguished Teaching Award Recipient

Professor David Horton is the recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Teaching Award. The honor, which is made possible through the generosity of Bill and Sally Rutter, will be presented at the "Celebrating King Hall" event on March 5 at the ARC Ballroom on the UC Davis campus.

Professor Horton joined the King Hall faculty in 2012 to teach in the area of Trusts, Wills, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He earned his law degree at UCLA, where he graduated Order of the Coif in 2004 and served as Chief Articles Editor of the UCLA Law Review.  He then practiced at the law firm of Morrison & Foerster and clerked for the Honorable Ronald M. Whyte of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.  He also taught at Loyola Law School and UC Berkeley School of Law. Recently, his article "In Partial Defense of Probate: Evidence from Alameda County, California" (forthcoming in the Georgetown Law Journal) was selected as the winner of the 29th annual Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Scholarly Paper Competition.

Other 2015 Distinguished Teaching Award nominees included Ashutosh Bhagwat, Alan Brownstein, Angelo DeSantis, John Hunt, Chris Ide-Don, Lisa Ikemoto, Margaret Johns, Leslie Kurtz, Carlton Larson, Barbara Miltner, Cruz Reynoso, Darien Shanske, B.J. Susich, and Rose Cuison Villazor.  The selection committee included King Hall Alumni Association Board President Gage Dungy '03, Law Students Association President Hayes Hyde '15, and 2014 Distinguished Teaching Award recipient Professor Edward J. Imwinkelried.
