Professor Hillman Comments on Partners' Obligations for NY Law Journal

Professor Robert W. Hillman commented on the legal and ethical obligations involved in law firm partnerships for a recent New York Law Journal exploring the indictment of Marc S. Drier of Drier LLP on charges that he had illegally made use of clients' escrow accounts.  Many Drier partners could face legal issues connected to Drier's alleged misconduct even though they have since left the firm, Professor Hillman stated.

"If they are truly partners," Professor Hillman said, they have a fiduciary obligation to protect the firms' clients.

Hillman, professor of Law and Fair Business Practices and Investor Advocacy Chair at UC Davis, is a scholar in the fields of international transactions, securities regulation, and corporate and partnership law.
