Professor Hillman Comments on N.Y. Ruling in Silverman v. Keller

Professor Robert W. Hillman, the Fair Business Practices and Investor Advocacy Professor of Law at UC Davis, commented in the ABA Journal eReport, on a N.Y. judge's ruling on equity partnership. Hillman said in the article, "the fact that you put a label of partnership on your law firm does not mean it is actually a partnership." He believes the case should prompt lawyers to re-evaluate the relationships within their firms "in light of the way the firms are actually operating."

Hillman is a leading expert in corporate and securities law. He is co-author of Securities Regulation: Cases and Materials, the leading law school text on securities regulation and capital markets. Hillman was also a member of the California State Senate's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Shareholder Litigation.
