Professor Frank Writes on California Supreme Court Environmental Docket for Daily Journal

Professor of Environmental Practice Richard Frank published an op-ed in the Daily Journal regarding the environmental law cases on the California Supreme Court docket, where an unprecedented 20 environmental law cases are pending.

"As the Supreme Court prepares to resolve the largest number of environmental cases in its institutional history, the key question is how the court's four newest justices will cast their votes," writes Frank.

Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye '84 "has not yet advanced a clear environmental law philosophy," and the newest members of the court, Justices Mariano Florentino Cuellar and Leondra Kruger have no environmental track record as jurists, but Justice Goodwin Liu's brief record as a judge "suggests he will be a strong voice for environmental values."

Frank, a 1974 graduate of King Hall, is a leader in the field of environmental law and the founding Director of the California Environmental Law and Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law.
