Professor Frank Talks to Scripps About Colorado River Water Crisis
Professor Richard M. Frank spoke to Scripps News for a Feb. 21 report on the water crisis currently confronting the seven western states that rely on the Colorado River system for essential water and hydroelectric power supplies for 40 million residents.
Frank summarized the recent federal directive to the seven Colorado River Basin states to cut their water dependence on the Colorado River; how and why the states have not been able to formulate a mutually agreeable plan to do so; and the likely scenario that federal water officials may have to impose water cutbacks on all the affected states.
Richard M. Frank ’74 is a leader in the field of environmental law, Professor of Environmental Practice and the founding director of the California Environmental Law and Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law.
