Professor Frank Talks to Politico About East Coast Wildfires
Politico reporters Blanca Begert and Ry Rivard quoted Professor Rick Frank in a Nov. 18 report on how New Jersey and several other U.S. states now face drought and wildfire conditions long familiar to Californians.
“Midwestern and eastern states have a lot to learn from the western states that have done rather serious water conservation efforts and are probably ahead of the federal government,” Frank told Politico. “The question is, are those states going to just look at the drought as a one-off aberration? Or will they start making long term plans based on the assumption that water as a consumptive resource is going to be more scarce in the future?”
(Note: Politico misidentified Frank’s University of California affiliation).
