Professor Frank takes part in webinar sponsored by national attorneys general group

Professor of Environmental Practice Rick Frank participated in a national webinar sponsored by the National Association of Attorneys General. The webinar, targeted to the 50 state attorneys general and their staffs, focused on the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2019 decision in Knick v. Township of Scott, Pennsylvania, an important regulatory takings precedent.

Frank’s presentation focused on the history of the Supreme Court’s regulatory takings “ripeness doctrine”; the justices’ decision in Knick to partially renounce that doctrine, and the implications of the court’s decision for future land use and regulatory takings litigation in state and federal courts. Also participating in the webinar was Pacific Legal Foundation senior attorney David Breemer, who successfully argued the Knick case in the Supreme Court.
