Professor Frank Speaks to Chilean Law School Advisory Group About Climate Change Issues
On Sept. 8, Professor of Environmental Practice Richard Frank made an online presentation to the International Advisory Group of the University of Desarrollo School of Law’s Environmental LL.M. program in Chile. The program is directed by Professor Raul Campusano, and the Advisory Group consists of a network of environmental experts from four continents, including international scholars, ambassadors and authors.
In his address, “Assessing Global Climate Change After the New IPCC Report: Pursuing Parallel & Essential Paths,” Frank summarized key findings of the U.N.-sponsored International Panel on Climate Change’s recently issued “Sixth Assessment”; how a series of severe climate events in 2021 has underscored the global climate crisis; greenhouse gas reduction efforts that are urgently needed to mitigate the potentially disastrous effects of climate change; and how climate adaptation efforts must be implemented on an urgent basis to protect global populations from the unavoidable impacts of climate change that are already occurring.
Professors Campusano and Frank both remarked that this event and presentation represent an important step in an ongoing institutional relationship between UC Davis School of Law and the University of Desarrollo School of Law.
