Professor Frank Quoted in San Jose Mercury News
Professor Richard Frank commented on the foundation of the Save San Francisco Bay Association, later known as Save the Bay, for an article in the San Jose Mercury News recounting the organization's beginnings 50 years ago.
"It is the first successful effort to transfer the environmental ethic from rural areas and wilderness to an urban area," said Frank. The commission became a model for other regional planning agencies such as the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, the state Coastal Commission and the new Delta Stewardship Council, he noted.
Frank, a 1974 graduate of King Hall, is a leading scholar and practitioner in the field of environmental law and the founding Director of the new California Environmental Law and Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law.
