Professor Frank Comments for Sacramento Bee on Trump Administration Proposals

Professor of Environmental Practice Richard Frank ’74 commented for the Sacramento Bee on a Trump administration proposal to expand offshore oil drilling on the California coast. State officials have announced opposition, but do not have the power to stop the plan, the Bee reports.

The state can object to the administration's proposal under the federal Coastal Zone Management Act, “but it’s not an absolute veto,” Frank said.

Professor Frank was also referenced in another Bee article concerning the Trump administration’s intention to pump more water through the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to the southern half of the state. Frank is cited as a source for information concerning the State Water Resources Control Board, which has the authority to make sure all pumping operations comply with state water and environmental laws.

Frank is a leader in the field of environmental law and the founding Director of the California Environmental Law and Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law.
