Professor Frank Comments on Obama Oil Spill Commission
Visiting Professor Richard Frank commented on the prospects for the independent commission appointed by President Obama to investigate the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico for a news report on for KCBS-AM 740.
"The charge of the commission, as I understand it, is to get to the bottom of how this could have happened, this terrible disaster in the gulf, and equally important, how the private sector and government regulation can respond and be reformed to avoid similar events occurring in the future," said Professor Frank.
The commission has been given a six-month window in which to operate, a timeframe Professor Frank termed "very ambitious, and perhaps excessively so."
Professor Frank, a 1974 graduate of King Hall, is Executive Director of the Center for Law, Energy, and the Environment at UC Berkeley and a Visiting Lecturer at King Hall.
