Professor Frank Comments for Christian Science Monitor on Californians' Reduced Water Use
Professor of Environmental Practice Richard Frank commented for the Christian Science Monitor on statistics showing that Californians are using less water, a change experts attribute to sustained media attention given to the ongoing drought.
"When you think about 38 million Californians, it sometimes seems like steering a huge oil tanker, but when public policy makers and media finally focus on it, it can finally come together - and has," Frank said. "A major number of people ripping out their urban grass lawns is another example of how a long-standing social behavior is beginning to change in Southern California and across the Southwest," he added.
Frank, a 1974 graduate of King Hall, is a leader in the field of environmental law and the founding Director of the California Environmental Law and Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law.
