Professor Frank Attends ‘Green Insurance Summit'

On September 12, Professor Rick Frank attended a "Green Insurance Summit" convened by California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones at the Department of Insurance headquarters in Sacramento.  The purpose of the summit was to bring together a small group of national environmental group representatives, insurance experts, and academics to recommend to the insurance commissioner ways to enhance the Department of Insurance's effectiveness in regulating the insurance industry.  Specifically, Jones used the summit to obtain ideas from Frank and other invitees as to how he can work with the insurance industry to help protect the environment, address climate change impacts, and properly evaluate environmental risks.

Frank, a 1974 graduate of King Hall, is the founding Director of the new California Environmental Law and Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law.
