Professor Frank Appointed to Ocean Protection Advisory Panel

Rick Frank '74, Executive Director of the Center for Law, Energy, and the Environment at UC Berkeley and a Visiting Lecturer at King Hall this semester, was appointed as a member of the newly-created Ocean Protection Council Expert Advisory Panel by California Secretary for Natural Resources Lester Snow on March 3.  The panel will evaluate for California policymakers how well or poorly the state Ocean Protection Council has performed over the past five years in implementing California's landmark Ocean Protection Act and recommend appropriate reforms for that statute's implementation in the future.

Professor Frank has spent 30 years working in California government, including service as the Chief Deputy Attorney General for Legal Affairs in the California Department of Justice.  An expert in environmental law, land use, and related issues, he is currently teaching Environmental Practice and California Environmental Issues and working to develop externships and other relationships between the School of Law and the state and federal governments.
