Professor Frank addresses Trump administration’s attempts at environmental cutbacks

On May 4th, Professor of Environmental Practice Richard M. Frank ’74 spoke at a conference in Oakland, “Private Enforcement in California – Challenges in the Trump Era,” sponsored by the California Lawyers Association’s (former California State Bar’s) Environmental Law Section.

The subject of Professor Frank’s presentation was “Analyzing (and Challenging) the Trump Administration’s Administrative `Reforms’ to Environmental Enforcement.”  His talk focused on how the current federal administration is attempting to limit public and—especially— private enforcement of major federal environmental laws. Professor Frank also surveyed a number of recent lawsuits brought by state government officials and environmental organizations to challenge those federal policies. He noted that virtually all of those lawsuits—mostly brought under the federal Administrative Procedure Act—have proved successful to date.
