Professor Frank addresses Bar Association of San Francisco

On June 24, Professor of Environmental Practice Rick Frank made a webinar-based presentation to the Bar Association of San Francisco on the topic “The Supreme Court’s County of Maui Decision—What It Means and What’s Next?”

Frank’s remarks focused on the history of and recent decision in County of Maui v. Hawaii Wildlife Fund, the U.S. Supreme Court’s most important environmental case decided in its current term. The decision deals with the jurisdictional reach of the federal Clean Water Act and its permit requirements nationwide. Frank also offered his predictions on the long-term implications of the decision for the regulated community, the environment, and federal and state officials responsible for implementing and enforcing the Clean Water Act.
