Professor Dodge Speaks on Investor-State Dispute Settlement

On February 19, Professor William S. Dodge spoke at a symposium on Investor-State Dispute Settlement at the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. The symposium brought together experts from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Ethiopia to discuss recent developments in investment arbitration including the recently concluded Tran-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and proposals for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP). Professor Dodge addressed the possibility of an appellate mechanism for investment disputes.

Professor Dodge is a Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law and an influential international law scholar. He serves as a Co-Reporter for the American Law Institute's Restatement (Fourth) of Foreign Relations Law: Jurisdiction and as a member of the State Department's Advisory Committee on International Law. He is a co-author of the casebook Transnational Business Problems and a co-editor of International Law in the U.S. Supreme Court: Continuity and Change, which won the American Society of International Law's 2012 certificate of merit. He has authored more than 40 other publications in books and law reviews.
