Professor Dodge Reappointed to State Department's Advisory Committee on International Law

Professor William S. Dodge has been reappointed to the State Department's Advisory Committee on International Law for an additional term of two years.

The committee meets twice a year in Washington, D.C. to advise the Legal Adviser's Office on current questions of international law and international legal policy. The committee consists of a small group of international law professors and former Legal Advisers. Its meetings are open to the public but are subject to Chatham House Rules prohibiting any reporting of what was discussed. Professor Dodge has served as a member of the committee since 2009, with the exception of 2011-12, when he served as Counselor on International Law to the Legal Adviser at the State Department.

Professor Dodge, Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law, is an influential international law scholar. He serves as a Co-Reporter for the American Law Institute's Restatement (Fourth) of Foreign Relations Law: Jurisdiction and as a member of the State Department's Advisory Committee on International Law. He is a co-author of the casebook Transnational Business Problems and a co-editor of International Law in the U.S. Supreme Court: Continuity and Change, which won the American Society of International Law's 2012 certificate of merit. He has authored more than 40 other publications in books and law reviews.
