Professor Dodge Participates in ALI Advisers' Meeting on Conflicts Restatement
On October 22, Professor William S. Dodge attended the first advisers' meeting for the American Law Institute's Restatement (Third) of Conflict of Laws in Philadelphia. The Third Restatement will update and revise the Second Restatement of Conflicts, which was published in 1971. The Third Restatement will cover not only choice of law but also questions of judicial jurisdiction and the enforcement of judgments. Its coverage thus overlaps to some extent with the ALI's Restatement (Fourth) of Foreign Relations Law: Jurisdiction, for which Professor Dodge serves as a Co-Reporter.
Professor Dodge is an influential international law scholar. He serves as a Co-Reporter for the American Law Institute's Restatement (Fourth) of Foreign Relations Law: Jurisdiction and as a member of the State Department's Advisory Committee on International Law. He is a co-author of the casebook Transnational Business Problems and a co-editor of International Law in the U.S. Supreme Court: Continuity and Change, which won the American Society of International Law's 2012 certificate of merit. He has authored more than 40 other publications in books and law reviews.
