Professor Diane Marie Amann quoted on Hayat Case

Diane Marie Amann, a professor of law and legal scholar with interests in international criminal law and international human rights, is quoted in a Sacramento Bee article on a hearing scheduled to probe juror misconduct in the Hamid Hayat case. Hayat was convicted in April 2006 by a federal jury of supporting terrorists by attending an al-Qaida training camp in Pakistan three years ago.

“Judges are quite reluctant to grant new trials based on juror misconduct," Amann is quoted as saying. "It has to be something particularly egregious."
