Professor Cooper Speaks at UC International Migration Conference

Professor Holly S. Cooper spoke on "Natural Disaster and Migration to the U.S.A.: The Haitian Example" at the Second Annual University of California International Migration Conference on February 26 at UC Davis.  Cooper presented on the issue of whether U.S. domestic laws are prepared for the inevitable influx of environmental refugees stemming from natural disaster and climate change.  She used her experience with Haitian migrants as an example and concluded our domestic laws are ill-equipped for the future.  Also presenting at the conference was King Hall Professor Emeritus Bill Hing.

Holly Cooper is a professor of law and serves as staff attorney at the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic. Her areas of specialty include immigration law and detained immigrants' rights.
