Professor Chin Weighs In About Controversial Podcast on Vincent Chin

Professor Gabriel “Jack” Chin spoke to the South China Morning Post about the controversy surrounding a podcast about Vincent Chin, the Michigan man killed in 1982 in a racially motivated attack that served as a touchstone for Asian American civil rights engagement and efforts to prosecute hate crimes.

The podcast, Hold Still, Vincent, premiered May 26 but was pulled from audio platforms after activist and journalist Helen Zia complained publicly that neither she nor Vincent Chin’s estate had been contacted about the project. Read the story.

Gabriel "Jack" Chin is Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law and holder of the Edward L. Barrett Jr. Endowed Chair at UC Davis School of Law.  He is a prolific and much-cited criminal and immigration law scholar whose work has addressed many of the most pressing social issues of our time.
