Professor Chin Comments for Los Angeles Times on Citizenship and the Presidency
Professor Gabriel "Jack" Chin commented for the Los Angeles Times on whether Senator Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada, would be eligible to serve as president. The Constitution states that only a "natural born" citizen may serve, but it isn't entirely clear what that means, Chin said.
"The consensus is that it means citizens at birth," said Chin. "But people are not 1,000 percent confident."
