Professor Chander Cited in International Trade Commission Report

Professor Anupam Chander's paper "Robots, the Internet of Things, and the Future of Trade" was cited by the United States International Trade Commission's latest report titled "Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement: Likely Impact on the U.S. Economy and on Specific Industry Sectors."

The report expresses concern over the imposition of future barriers to trade among the Trans-Pacific Partnership parties. It cites Professor Chander's paper on recent and rapidly evolving technologies enabling new kinds of services as well as global trade of existing services.  In his paper, Professor Chander observes the emergence of new kinds of international trade in abstract concepts such as "thinking, analyzing, recommending, and remembering."

Professor Chander, Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law, is a leading scholar of international economic law and cyberlaw. He is the author of The Electronic Silk Road: How the Web Binds the World in Commerce, published in 2013 by Yale University Press. His scholarly papers can be accessed via his Social Science Research Network author page.
