Professor Chacón Named Obama Advisor on Immigration
Professor Jennifer Chacón has been named as an advisor to President-elect Barrack Obama's transition team, sharing her expertise on immigration issues with the incoming administration. Chacón's appointment has been viewed in the media as indication of the Obama administration's commitment to include a significant number of Latinos among its 3,000 appointments. During the campaign, Law School Dean Kevin R. Johnson, Professor Bill Ong Hing, and Chacón served as members of Obama's immigration policy advisory group. More recently, Professor Emeritus Cruz Reynoso was appointed to Obama's Justice and Civil Rights Agency Review Team.
Jennifer Chacón is a professor with the UC Davis School of Law, teaching courses in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Immigration Law. She has published extensively on immigration-related issues.
