Professor Brownstein weighs in on gun violence at ‘Campus Conversation’ event

Professor Emeritus Alan Brownstein offered his expertise to the discussion “The Campus Conversation: Guns and America After Parkland,” on April 26 at the UC Davis Conference Center.

Professor Brownstein contributed the legal perspective - focused on the Second Amendment - to the event at which UC Davis faculty members from various disciplines discussed gun violence. The topic has been  prominent in the national discourse since a gunman killed 17 people in February at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

The “Campus Conversation” was hosted by the UC Davis Humanities Institute, Department of History, Institute for Social Sciences, Department of Sociology, School of Medicine, and Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor.

Professor Brownstein, a nationally recognized Constitutional Law scholar, taught Constitutional Law, Law and Religion, and Torts at UC Davis School of Law for more than 30 years. Prior to his retirement from full-time teaching, he held the Boochever and Bird Endowed Chair for the Study and Teaching of Freedom and Equality.
