Professor Brownstein to Speak on Same-Sex Marriage and Religious Liberty

Professor Alan Brownstein will speak on "Reconciling Conflicting Autonomy Rights: Same-Sex Marriage and Religious Liberty" in Sacramento April 15 in an event sponsored by Americans United for Separation of Church and State.  Professor Brownstein will discuss the history of religious objections to public policy mandates in America, assess alternative frameworks for evaluating the current same-sex marriage debate, and describe what he believes is the most appropriate analytic model for resolving these issues.

Professor Brownstein, a nationally recognized Constitutional Law scholar, teaches Constitutional Law, Law and Religion, and Torts at UC Davis School of Law, where he holds the Boochever and Bird Endowed Chair for the Study and Teaching of Freedom and Equality.
