Professor Bennoune's TED Talk on Muslim Fundamentalism Goes Global, Earns more than One Million Views
A TED Talk by Professor Karima Bennoune has been selected to appear on the website of TED Global, an honor reserved for less than 1 percent of TED Talks presented regionally. Her talk has garnered more than one million views on TED.com.
Professor Bennoune’s TED talk, originally presented in March 2014 at TEDxExeter in the United Kingdom, is titled, “When people of Muslim heritage challenge fundamentalism.” She shares powerful stories of people fighting against fundamentalism in their own communities, from Afghanistan to Algeria and beyond. The stories are based on the research she performed for her acclaimed recent book, “Your Fatwa Does Not Apply Here: Untold Stories from the Fight Against Muslim Fundamentalism.”
Karima Bennoune is an author, lecturer, teacher, and international law scholar as well as the first Arab-American to be honored with the Derrick A. Bell Award from the Section on Minority Groups of the Association of American Law Schools. She joined the King Hall faculty from Rutgers School of Law-Newark in 2012.
