Professor Ayer Comments for IBTimes.com on Corporate Pensions
Professor John D. Ayer commented for IBTimes.com on the issue of U.S. corporations hoarding record levels of cash at a time when their pension funds show soaring deficits. Professor Ayer commented that in many cases, the companies' assumptions regarding pension fund payouts may be "extravagant" and deficits may be even greater than reported. Professor Ayer suggested that most corporate pensions are likely to be "somewhere between anemic and blazingly broke."
John D. Ayer is a professor emeritus at the UC Davis School of Law and an expert on bankruptcy law.
