Professor Amann Quoted in ABA Journal on Justice Stevens

Professor Diane Marie Amann was quoted in an article on Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens in the September 2007 issue of the ABA Journal. The article, "Setting Precedent in Two Wars: How Justice Stevens turned 60-year-old dissents into major rulings in the war on terrorism," compared the relationship between Justice Stevens and Justice Wiley B. Rutledge, who served only six years, but made his mark on the Supreme Court by arguing that the United States must respect the rights of its foreign enemies.

Aman, a former Stevens clerk who wrote an article about Stevens, which was published in the Fordham Law Review (2006), said in the ABA article, "There is this remarkable symmetry between the challenges that Rutledge was facing in the era that he was a justice and the challenges that Stevens is facing today in a post-9/11 world."
