Professor Amann Publishes Op-Eds in New York Times Online

Professor Diane Marie Amann published two commentaries on issues related to the potential closure of the detention camp at Guatánamo Bay in "Room for Debate," a feature of the New York Times website.  "Political vs. Legal Decisions," published January 13, examines the options facing President-elect Barack Obama as he seeks to fulfill campaign promises to close the detention center.  "Confirming What Many Assumed," published January 14, examines issues surrounding the alleged torture of terrorism suspects.

Diane Marie Amann is a Professor at the UC Davis School of Law and Director of the California International Law Center at King Hall.  Issues related to post-9/11 detention, interrogation, and prosecution are a focus of her scholarship, with articles published in Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems, University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and Columbia Journal of Transnational Law.
