Professor Diane Marie Amann discussed the career of retiring Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens and the prospects for Solicitor General Elena Kagan, his likely successor, for the June 21 broadcast of local National Public Radio affiliate KXJZ's Insight program.

Professor Amann touched on subjects including Justice Stevens' record with regard to segregation and affirmative action, his landmark opinion in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, his passionate dissent in Bush v. Gore, and his active personal life that has helped enable him to remain an effective justice past his ninetieth birthday.  Professor Amann also commented on the prospects for Elena Kagan, whom she characterized as being "superbly qualified to be on the Court."

Diane Marie Amann is a Professor at the UC Davis School of Law and Director of the California International Law Center at King Hall.  She is also a leading scholar on the jurisprudence of Justice Stevens.
