Professor Afsharipour's Handbook on Corporate Governance Draws Widespread Media Attention
The publication of Professor Afra Afsharipour's new Handbook on Corporate Governance in India drew widespread media coverage following a press release by The Conference Board, a global, independent business membership and research association working in the public interest that solicited the work. Professor Afsharipour also spoke on the Handbook at events in New Delhi and Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 20.
The Conference Board issued a press release on the Handbook on January 19, calling it "a major resource for directors, general counsels, and company secretaries working to adapt to rapid developments in regulatory and corporate practice in the wake of India's adoption of The Companies Act 2013."
"The Handbook collates the issues facing corporate boards in a comprehensive and consolidated manner," Professor Afsharipour states in the release. "It captures the latest legal and regulatory developments, including significant rulemaking by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), in a field that has been shifting quickly since the enactment of The Companies Act 2013."
Professor Afsharipour was quoted in an article on a Handbook launch event by the Press Trust of India that was syndicated to numerous media outlets, including the Financial Express, the Economic Times, News Stand, News United, News Now, and Finance Everyday. In addition, The Hindu Business Line independently interviewed Professor Afsharipour and published an article on the handbook. Professor Afsharipour also published an entry on the King Hall Faculty Blog regarding the launch of the handbook.
Professor Afsharipour's areas of research include comparative corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional law. Her scholarship has appeared in numerous books and law reviews, including the Columbia Law Review, the Minnesota Law Review, the National Law School of India Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review, and the UC Davis Law Review.
