Professor Afsharipour presents paper at Duke University conference

On June 5, Professor Afra Afsharipour presented a paper titled “Corporate Social Responsibility and the Corporate Board: Assessing the Indian Experiment,” at a Duke University conference devoted to examining the impact of India’s nearly 5-year-old Corporate Social Responsibility law.

The law, passed in 2013, requires domestic and foreign companies operating in India that meet certain profitability, net-worth and size thresholds to spend at least 2 percent of net income on social development.

Professor Afsharipour’s areas of research include comparative corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional law.  Her scholarship has appeared in numerous law reviews, including the Columbia Law Review, the Minnesota Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review, and the UC Davis Law Review.
