PolitiFact California asks Professor Frank about Harris' claim she took on big oil
Professor of Environmental Practice Rick Frank spoke to PolitiFact California about Sen. Kamala Harris’ assertion that she “took on the big oil companies” when she was California attorney general. Harris made the claim during the Sept. 4 CNN Climate Town Hall for 2020 presidential candidates.
“I think Attorney General Kamala Harris was strongly supportive of environmental values and skeptical of the major energy industry,” Frank told PolitiFact California. “But I don’t know that this was one of the primary areas upon which she focused as attorney general above and beyond what she was able to do in representing her state agency clients, such as the state water board and the California Air Resources Board.”
