N.Y. Times Quotes Professor Bala on Parents of Mass Shooters Being Charged

Professor Nila  Bala commented in a March 5 New York Times story exploring how prosecuting or suing parents of perpetrators has emerged as an outlet for those seeking accountability for mass shootings.

“Putting this responsibility on parents is beneficial to the state, because then they can just say, ‘Well, we’ve done something about this,’” Bala told the Times. “They don’t have to address all the other structural issues that cause this to happen.”
