Professor Afsharipour Honored with Association of American Law Schools Mentor Award
Professor Afra Afsharipour has been honored by the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) with the Section on Business Associations Outstanding Mentor Award. The honor will be presented at the 2018 AALS Annual Meeting held January 3-6 in San Diego.
The award recognizes members of the Section on Business Associations who encourage the success of junior scholars by reading and providing feedback on their work, promoting a supportive and rigorous environment for conference presentations, facilitating professional opportunities, mentoring those from underrepresented communities, and providing useful guidance on career advancement, among other activities.
“Afra has been one of the most generous mentors I have come to know,” said one junior scholar who nominated her. “Through our numerous conversations and correspondences, Afra has had a profound impact on my work. She has given me detailed feedback on my writing, asked wise questions which have influenced my thinking, and introduced me to others’ work that has stimulated my intellectual development and growth. I have benefitted greatly from Afra’s gestures of kindness, and she is someone who I have come to deeply admire and trust.”
Professor Afsharipour’s areas of research include comparative corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional law. Her scholarship has appeared in numerous law reviews, including the Columbia Law Review, the Minnesota Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review, and the UC Davis Law Review.
