UC Davis School of Law kicked off its 50th Anniversary Celebration with a cake-cutting ceremony in the King Hall courtyard on August 25. The event featured remarks from Dean Kevin R. Johnson, a raffle giveaway of 50th anniversary t-shirts, and cake with the 50th anniversary logo.

Welcoming the assembled faculty, students, alumni, and staff, Dean Johnson remarked on the "wonderful milestone" 50th anniversary.

"In just 50 years, UC Davis School of Law, housed in a building named after Martin Luther King, Jr., has become firmly established in the top tier of our nation's law schools, with a deep commitment to excellence and diversity," said Dean Johnson. "We look forward to raising our national and international profile even higher in the years to come."

Throughout the 2015-16 academic year, UC Davis School of Law will be celebrating the anniversary of its founding in 1965. Events include a 50th Anniversary Alumni Reunion on October 24, 2015 as well as commemorations on UC Davis Picnic Day (April 16, 2016) and the Class of 2016 Commencement Ceremony (May 14, 2016). The School of Law also has launched a 50th Anniversary website, and a special anniversary issue of the Counselor magazine will publish later this year.
