UC Davis School of Law’s faculty has placed 22nd among the “Top 50 Law Faculties in Scholarly Impact, 2021.” UC Davis has moved up a spot since 2018, the last time the rankings -- based on the number of citations to tenured faculty scholarship in law journals -- were compiled.
UC Davis finished ahead of USC (No. 29), Notre Dame (No. 31) and many other top-tier law schools.
The rankings result from a study of thousands of law professors and more than half a million citations in law journals. The ratings look at mean and median citations to tenured faculty scholarship, using a calculating system refined by University of Chicago Professor Brian Leiter. The 2021 rankings cover 2016-2020.
UC Davis Law’s faculty has been recognized widely for its outstanding, prolific scholarship. Articles by King Hall’s scholars appear regularly in leading law journals, including the Harvard Law Review, Stanford Law Review, Columbia Law Review and California Law Review.
